A real chess community in an airy, bright space — the opposite of every other chess club I've ever walked into. Beginners and old-timers. Young and old. Everyone gets a worthy opponent.
5–6pm: Beginner Hour with Coach JB
Never played before? Come at 5pm. Coach JB walks you through the pieces, the rules, and your first real game. By 6pm you'll be playing — and the rest of the night you're just another player in the room.
6–9pm: Open Play
After 6pm, it's open play. Adults of every skill level — complete beginners next to tournament regulars. Find a board, find a seat, find an opponent at your level. Repeat.
All Skill Levels
We've had complete beginners and adults who hadn't touched a board in twenty years walking in and renewing USCF memberships the same night. There's always somebody at your level.
Bring Your Own Beverage
BYOB. Bring a snack or dinner if you want. It's Friday. The space is comfortable. The games are good. Relax.
No Screens
Put the phone down. Look someone in the eye. Play a game. This is what Friday nights used to feel like before we all started staring at glass rectangles.
